The Micah Report – US Consul Puts Foot in Mouth.
Friday September 12, 2008
I’ve Been Thinking:
The US Consul General in Jerusalem answers directly to the Secretary of State. Even though the US Ambassador to Israel is posted in Tel Aviv, the position of Consul General is like that of an Ambassador.
Yesterday John Walles, the United States Consul General in Jerusalem, did what diplomats call putting your foot in your mouth.
Or maybe it was intentional and planned.
In an interview with the Palestinian newspaper Al Ayam, Walles said that in a deal spearheaded by the United States, in conjunction with Israel and the Palestinian Authority, it was agreed upon to give East Jerusalem to the Palestinians. He said that the news should be made public and that, in essence, it was a done deal.
Even if it is a done deal, Al Ayam is hardly the forum to make the announcement.
The Israelis saw red.
They reacted by saying that Jerusalem is not even on the table. And when it is in the table, there will be a special committee to deal with it.
Walles was creating a new status quo for the Palestinians.
The Consul General was most certainly acting on the advice of Washington, he is not a news making type person and it is not a news making type position.
What it was, was certainly not very diplomatic and as the kids say, “not nice!”
Now Israel and the US have an insurmountable problem.
How do you create incentives for Palestinian leadership to tow any line once they know that under any and all circumstances Jerusalem will be delivered?

Israel will end up being divided, it’s in scripture and it is happening. I hate to see it happen, especially to them precious people, but there is ALOT that is happening all over the world that I hate to see happen,REALLY scary stuff, unfortunatly it must happen. Christ said in Matt.”it must happen for the end to come -but to not worry.”
I do beleive in scripture and I know it well enough and know history well enough to know it is true.
Another sad but true fact is that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world for a reason- it goes all the way back.
If you study Daniel and look at history- it helps put things in perspective.
Daniel is the one book of the Bible that skeptics hate the most because alot of it has happened.
Who was it that God always used to discipline His people when they turned from Him? That’s right- Babylon. Who is modern Babylon now? That’s right- Iraq. And Medo-persia is today- Iran. Now THAT says ALOT if you study scripture.
I don’t want to believe that I am living in a time such as this and that it will get worse for the next generations. But we know who is in control, no matter how bad things look. We don’t have the ability to understand His ways but He loves us ALL- even our enemies. They are just lost, so much of them are forced into believeing in a different god or else they don’t understand. Yet many here in America who have the liberty to choose and the knowledge at hand to study for themselves- willfully choose not to believe in Him. It is very sad because judgment IS coming SOON. He showing us in so many ways!
