A Call to Anguish

Category: DevotionalPolycarp @ 11:59 pm

What a powerful message – and one true across the theological bounds.

The Church that I know is one content with cover-ups, with hiding the Gospel, with changing only light bulbs. Where are the laborer’s in the fields? Where is the weeping for lost loved ones, friends, and the ill? What great impact have w had? If the community around you has nothing good to say about – not because of the Gospel, but because of you, it’s time to either quit or change direction.

It’s time to be about our Father’s business.

His point about Nehemiah is one which connects with me – as the Book of Nehemiah is a singular event in the Old Testament. Nehemiah didn’t just build a wall, but he stood for the people and the City fo God. He was a pastor with a heart to God and the things of God.

If only…

You rang my bell on this one! Seems we’ve gotten a bit sidetracked from what the One had in mind for us to do, doesn’t it?
Methinks that these just might be the days of Nehemiah, though many will miss it.

Joe, Nehemiah has served as an inspiration for me – he was a Pastor before they had pastors. His prayers, which are found buried throughout the book, are tough and to the point, but filled with compassion for his God an God’s City and People. They are along side of Timothy and Titus, how ministers should act.

Deb, I really liked this video – and more people need to see it. This prosperity gospel has made people forget the real Gospel – the Gospel that does call us to suffer for and with this world.
