Deb, I am one for spelling errors, grammar errors, syntax errors, and I have yet to figure out the passive voice thing. Content is King.

I agree with you about sports – personally, if you could get a stadium full of people to spend 4 hours a Sunday helping someone else instead of watching grown men act like children, it would be a blessing.

sorry about the “spelling errors” I am NOT perfect,,,and football, I see it as the same,,, Idolizing, if you put something before God ,it is all Idol worship… if all the people that attend these games, thousands upon thousands,would meet and worship God and pray,just think what kind of nation we really would have…If we would fall to our knees and cry out to AbbaGod,he will heal our land,it is just that easy……

It is sad that everything that is most important in life, gets a back stage to MJ>> I believe he was a child molester.. why would he pay millions to someone if he was not? and all this fame and stuff,is “Idol worship” pure and simple.. I don’t think God would approve.. and I am tired of hearing it,, he was a man plain and simple.. like you and I, he will Not be so famous now…and no one “deserves ” such reconnition like this.. only the Lord…..

Oh, you know I think most American are not paying attention to much beyond college football, American Idol, and Maxim magazine. Don’t get me wrong, I love college football, but yes, Americans are allowing other to make decisions, because they feel inadequite or made to beleive others are better informed or qualified. rrrrrrwrong!

Even my beloved NPR, which usually avoids these things, is on Michael Jackson today.
The other day I heard about the winner of the hot dog eating contest on Coney Island on the 4th of July and thought … you know, he ate 60+ hot dogs in five minutes. Be honest … he didn’t fully digest them.
I count 15 hungry families that could have had at least some kind of a meal out of what that guy shoved in his face (and likely vomitted back later).
You’re right, our priorities are completely messed up.

Doc, you know that I return the respect, but I respectfully disagree. No man on this planet deserves the attention that he is getting. It has not been a day, but a week, a week which we have seen the tide turn in Iran, the Chinese kill hundreds of people and a junta take over in Honduras.

Americans are a self-absorbed lot, only caring about the now, or the famous. He was a singer of songs, a minstrel. He did not give his life for any, nor brought any to freedom.

He may be mourned, but when every news outlet treats the death of Michael like it was the death a king, ignoring the soldiers that are dying, the freedom that is sought, of the children that starve, it makes me ill.

My Brother of whom I respect greatly,
MJ was much more then a pop idol. While Iran, China, Israel will be in the news tomorrow, the next day, and for the next years to follow, MJ is dead. Accused of pediphilia and all sorts of things, he was the most recognizable human on the planet earth. Truth me, he will be back page soon enough, but to many in the world, MJ brought a lot of joy to them during rough times of the 80’s and 90’s. MJ was huge and never once claimed to be bigger then Jesus Christ…He spoke out about global apathy before it was cool, and if it hadn’t been for him, changes are Africa would have remained a silent genocide. What performer would have brought Ethopia to the world? REO? The Stones or U2? MJ made us all join hands and pay attention.

if only for a day, MJ deserves the light he gets…
