My dear friend Wickle, whom I will consider the next book that I am able to send a bail-out to Tyvek, has honored me with the Honest Scrap Award. The rules are simple – 10 honest things about yourself, and 7 bloggers to return the favor.
So, here it goes -
- I like silly movies. Stupid movies, really. I like corny humor. My favorite joke involves ‘geometry’ and an acorn. It is my mental break. I spend a lot of time with books in deep theology – when I surface, I like silly stuff.
- I have a temper. I am Scotch-Irish and German, and raised in South Louisiana. I have red hair. I have a temper.
- I cried at the end of Beaches. Like a Baby. Couldn’t catch myself. Still haven’t told my wife – so don’t you tell her.
- I buy books when I know that I will not be able to read them for a long time. I would rather buy books than lunch. If there was a Cokesbury next door to the office instead of a Wendy’s, I would be a lot thinner and would need more bookshelves.
- I like MSNBC – does that count as a secret?
- I like to listen to Byzantine Chants/Psalms.
- I use to be a Baptist – and Outreach Minister at that.
- I love public speaking, but not really the public. Mass transit is not my thing. I would rather drive 24 hours, by myself than fly with 30 other people.
- I rely upon MS Word to correct my spekking and grammer because that’s how I grow up. What was a tool is now a handicap.
- I am a rigorist. If I was an ancient Christian heresy, I would be a Donatist. (See #2)

I got tired of what passes for ‘Southern Gospel’ a while back and went youtubin’. Down the river, I found them, and quickly came to enjoy to them as a break in the routine. I mean, cannot get more biblical than singing the Psalms.
#10? Well….just don’t go sacrificing to other gods during persecutions and you have nothing to worry about.

I like Hardball on MSNBC, but I can’t stomach the Ed Show, Keith Olbermann, and Rachel Madow.

James…the exact opposite for me, but with the corollary that because I like a show, it doesn’t mean that I buy into everything said on it.
