While I get Ghandi's point, I'm with Polycarp that he doesn't hold a lot of theological weight.
If what you mean, though, is that a lot of people warm pews on Sunday morning but don't really belong to the Church, then I'm with you.

Doc, in the end, on a theological basis, Ghandi holds little weight for me. The Church is indeed the Body of Christ, and is very much alive in this dead world. Although men have sought to hide it, and have withstood it, and finally mimicked it, She is alive and well.

Simply because I pray with the ducks in no way means that the Body is not present - for where two or three are gathered together in His Name, He is there.

I was raised Episcolpalian, in Mississippi, and can tell you that homosexuality is one issue the paleocons have with the new direction of the church. I remember the "great" sczism over the language of the Book of Common Prayer. Should seen the episode about Ordination of women as priest....WOW...you would have thought they were trying to introduce church wide celibracy and vows of poverty!

sure, if the big "C" church is indeed The Body of Christ, stretched out His Hands as He ascended into Heaven is THE only Church, but what organism today IS that Body? Ghandi said "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." The little man in a dress sums it up.
.....and all of Gods children say "huh".....
This lack of Body presenttoday leads ever some great minds to pray among the ducks.....may I right?

Nice looking blog. Here is the website to our parish library. I think some of the links, but most importantly the bibliographies might be of interest to you.
