Can be found here and I assume that N.T. Wrong? has returned. Oh the joy. Anyway, while it may be a shock to some of you, I am ‘very conservative.’ I would like to know what that means, however….

I was labeled as only “conservative”, which is fine with me, though the baggage that often attends such labels can be misleading.

  2. Henry Neufeld says:

After having received the epithet “liberal charismatic” from an opponent several years ago and embraced it, I am indeed surprised to discover that I am very conservative.

  3. John W. Loftus says:

    …and me a liberal?

Well, I was once, but it was just a passing phase.

  4. John W. Loftus says:

You know what? I think your blog title itself draws you the most hits. Every Christian thinks they belong to your church, and anyone doing a search for the words that happen to be in your blog URL will garner a hit. What we need to find out is if these hits translate into actual readers.

Take PZ Meyers for instance. You can tell he gets a great number of hits based on the number of comments.

    • Polycarp says:

John, your former assumption would be incorrect. I get hits from the name, sure, but only form those of my former congregation who believes that I post things about them from time to time. Not totally untrue.

Rarely do I get hits from Mormons. And no, not every Christian believes that he or she belongs to this church.

Further, I have well over 17,000 comments which does add considerably to the Alexa ranking, as I discussed earlier. Hits rarely matter to Alexa, I believe as on days in which I had say, 800, with lots of comments, I can have good rankings but even on days with 2000, with a few comments, nothing much.

It is about a continuous movement on your blog.

I’ve always thought it a boring ‘game’ and better blogs ignore it. Isn’t it just a tad waste of time? Who really cares in the big world of potential audience? I don’t know how you can bear the pressure! I’m sure glad that an injury forced me out of competition athletics and I took up swimming just as obsessively but without the competition. What a blessing a broken leg was.

And that new blog is NOTHING to do with the real NT Wrong who is far more intellectually sophisticated and broadly knowledgeable than all of ya put together!! ;-) Now he really does know how to be funny, cleverly and such a tinsy bit rudely so, but inoffensively. I suppose his wide ranging topics also appeal to me.

Bla to putting people in boxes… Just another ‘game’ I suppose! :-)

Precisely: it’s certain types of news coverage, that increase suicidal behaviour in vulnerable people – copy cat they’re called. And “repeated and continual coverage of suicide tends to induce and promote suicidal preoccupations, particularly among adolescents and young adults”. It’s tragic, and widely recognised to be true.

BTW, voting for the 2010 Weblog Awards has started. Nominations close Tuesday, January 12, 2010. http://2010.bloggies.com/

  7. Bill Warrant says:

    Hey Joel,

I’m actually rooting for you to stay ahead of Loftus. That’s kinda odd for an atheist, isn’t it?

    • Polycarp says:

Thanks, Bill. I hope to always present a reasonable place for discussion, whether we agree or not.

    • John W. Loftus says:

From the stats it looks like there’s no catching Joel so no worries. My only hope is to convince him he’s boring and drop out of the race like someone else recently did. Or, I could encourage Joel to study in South Africa where he’ll be too busy to Blog. Hmmm. Joel, go there to study!

I’m really not as bad as people think.

Just don’t “literally” piss me off!

      ;-)

      • steph says:

you should all drop out – it’s the game that’s boring, always was and always will be – it just got worse and worse with all the incessant blathering. :-)

      • Polycarp says:

Boring? John, I am the most entertaining man I know.

And who needs to study? My wife regularly tells me I am a know it all
