There is a persistent myth among both Christians and Muslims and others that Christianity is a Western religion that is foreign to Africa. And yes, it is true that Western versions of Christianity, such as Roman Catholicism and all forms of Protestantism are all imports from the 15th century onwards (Roman Catholics) and the 18th century onwards (Protestants – Moravians of all people!). And unfortunately it is also true that these imported versions of Christianity were often the vanguard of attempts by European powers to claim, subjugate, exploit and even colonize vast swaths of the African continent. But it is wrong to suggest that, therefore, Christianity is a Western religion (as opposed to Islam or more local traditional religions)….

Number 1 on the list should be me and you for not doing out part to stand apart from the loons who have co-opted our faith. I do have a problem with some of these however, as most of them are so separate from Christianity as to wonder if this was politically motivated. The issue I have is that people consider the only self-application of the title of ‘Christian’ of ‘Jesus Christ’ as the only means necessary for one calling oneself a Christian. Frankly, I have a difficult time considering everyone one of these people a Christian. There is more required than just labeling yourself as such, especially given the fact that some of these people are mentally deranged.
The list is here:

Long ages are a recent phenomenon to justify evolutionary philosophy. I used to believe the day-age and/or gap models were credible, until I realized they had a number of linguistic and logical problems, and that my view was not based on the Bible’s language or historical views, but simply to accommodate long age concepts. These models were constructed in the nineteenth century in an attempt to harmonize evolutionary dogma with the Biblical text. Long ages were touted as ‘proven’ by science, and therefore it seemed necessary to force the Bible’s language to conform to this supposed scientific fact even if this created linguistic, logical and historical inconsistencies.
See how this came about at Young and Old Earth Creation Beliefs and Origins.

Why is it that people consider Christianity monolithic?
From abortion to homosexuality to stem cells, you’ve heard time and again that what we are living through is a fight between religious conservatives and activist liberals. It’s not. It is a deep disagreement inside Christianity over what conserving faithfulness means.
