Whether it’s the Mayan prediction of the 2012 cataclysm or the theology of the rapture, predictions of the end of the world tell us as much about ourselves as about the coming apocalypse. And we’ve got plenty to worry about either way.

I realize that this is a leap, and I really don’t have the time to either defend or attack the position which I will make; however, for future references and perhaps some conversation, I present this:

The relationship between Eschatology and politics is a controversial one. In this articles will look at how eschatology has shaped politics here in America. It is also interesting that other country’s such as Iran has use striking parallels of theology to shape their politics as well.

It’s a British take on the antichrist in American politics, but a good one. As many readers know, I don’t necessarily believe in ‘the antichrist,’ the mythical super-villain which will swoop in and unite the one world for one final apocalyptic battle, but do believe in ‘his’ power to be used to disrupt American politics.

My first thought was of Bitsy, who surely brought this on. Then I thought that ‘Hey, I have books in the mail – they had best get here soon.’ Then I became worried, because I am running a blog-a-thon and contest on the 22nd. How unfair is that – that the Rapture happens before the day of my blog tour?
Anyone, be warned, while it might not come exactly on the 21nd, it is coming this Fall.

Remember this post? It has made the rounds (I know the videographer must be happy) and now, Dr. Daniel Wallace responds.
More than one Christian friend has suggested to me, in all seriousness, that President Obama is the Antichrist. I haven’t taken such suggestions too seriously, but recently a video has shown up on Youtube that seems to claim that Jesus identified Obama as the Antichrist. Some Christians have been startled by this (and the video is wildly popular) and believe that the evidence is compelling. The video is found here. I’ve been asked to start a discussion of the First Ressurection as appearing in the book of Revelation. Is it spiritual or is it physical?
“Then I saw thrones, and the people sitting on them had been given the authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus and for proclaiming the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his statue, nor accepted his mark on their forehead or their hands. They all came to life again, and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years. This is the first resurrection. (The rest of the dead did not come back to life until the thousand years had ended.) Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. For them the second death holds no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him a thousand years.” (Rev 20:4-6 NLT)
