Atheist Ireland? Freedom of Speech? Only if you want to pay

Category: Atheism, Religious NewsPolycarp @ 11:16 am

I don’t know where to secretly admire Ireland for this, or worry that something like this will come to our shores? Why? Because blasphemy can be just about anything, depending upon who is in power.

An Irish atheist group have begun a campaign to have a controversial new blasphemy law repealed by publishing 25 quotations it claims are blasphemous on its website.

Court turns down student over religious speech

Category: Religious NewsPolycarp @ 2:25 pm

First, its a public school. Second, it seems that the student and the school had approved on a text of the speech, which she then strayed from.

More on Hate-Speech By Left and Right

Category: Homosexuality, Religion and PoliticsPolycarp @ 2:51 am

Last week, I posted on a right-wing attack on a left-wing blogger which I believe is really an attempt at controlling speech. I’ve read the comments, and like I have on other statements – much to the contrary of a comment left on the previous post – did not see the problem with it. New Attacks Against Bloggers – FBI Called on one Blogger’s Comment

Category: Blogging, TechnologyPolycarp @ 9:18 pm

The Blogger in question, Joe Jervis is gay, atheist, and about as left-wing as you can get. His chief opponent, Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality has taken their war to the next level – he’s called the FBI. Granted, biblical bloggers have nothing to fear about this, I guess – because we know that things like this simply do not have a slippery slope.

(Don’t) Buy this Book

Category: Religious NewsPolycarp @ 3:53 pm

I have recently been chastised, ostracized and other ’sized’ for speaking up about what I would consider false claims of calls and inspirations of God – so I will not say anything about this book . I’ll just post what the author says about the book.

If Dr. West thinks I have a problem with my spellin’….
