via The Associated Press: Court makes Conn. 3rd state to allow gay marriage

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A sharply divided Connecticut Supreme Court ruled Friday that gay couples have the right to get married, saying legislators did not go far enough when they approved same-sex civil unions that were identical to marriages in virtually every respect except the name.

The 4-3 ruling will make Connecticut the third state, behind Massachusetts and California, to allow same-sex marriages, decisions that in all cases were made by the highest state court. The decision marks the first time that a court rejected civil unions as an alternative to granting gay couples the right to marry.

Californians will vote next month on a ballot measure that would reinstate the gay-marriage ban, but Connecticut’s governor and attorney general said there is little chance of a similar challenge to Friday’s ruling.

“The Supreme Court has spoken,” said Gov. M. Jodi Rell, a Republican who opposes same-sex marriage. “I do not believe their voice reflects the majority of the people of Connecticut. However, I am also firmly convinced that attempts to reverse this decision — either legislatively or by amending the state Constitution — will not meet with success.”

Author seeks to unravel God’s truth about homosexuality

Homosexuality is making some big waves in Hollywood, where a number of celebrities have either recently “come out” or offered support to efforts to normalise a behaviour that many still agree is unnatural.

Most recently, former “American Idol” runner-up Clay Aiken publicly announced that he is gay, appearing on the cover of the latest People magazine holding his infant son, Parker Foster Aiken.

“It was the first decision I made as a father,” Aiken told the magazine, which arrives on newsstands Friday. “I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things. I wasn’t raised that way, and I’m not going to raise a child to do that.”

Did God create Ray Boltz gay?

Category: Religious NewsPolycarp @ 8:37 pm

Baptist Press – Did God create Ray Boltz gay? – News with a Christian Perspective.

SOUTHLAKE, Texas (BP)–”If this is the way God made me, then this is the way I’m going to live,” Christian singer Ray Boltz said in a recent article disclosing his decision to divorce his wife and live as a homosexual.

But did God really create Ray Boltz as a homosexual? The media certainly would have us think so.

Time recently ran an article (“What the Gay Brain Looks Like,” Jun. 17, 2008) attempting to demonstrate the “science” supporting a “gay gene.” Interestingly, the article referenced a study done by Simon LeVay in 1991. The study had major gaps in its methodology, and even LeVay, a homosexual neuroscientist, has said that it didn’t prove what he hoped it would.

An article such as this demonstrates the difficulty of speaking truth into our culture today. Studies attempting to normalize homosexual behavior are introduced with much fanfare, and we hear about “important” new discoveries that are accepted as facts. We don’t hear, however, about the scientists who strongly disagree and the studies that reach a different conclusion.

Judith Light finds her mission – to warn against Homophobes

Category: Religious NewsPolycarp @ 10:17 am

You ever notice how if you stand up for morality, such as the idea that homosexuality is a sin, then you are fearful of it? This is the type of branding that people have used on their enemies for quite a while. I am not afraid of sin, but have a great distaste for it.

Christian Singer Ray Boltz Comes Out

Category: Religious NewsPolycarp @ 6:17 pm

I noticed that Ray Boltz had made the top of Google’s Hot Trends – those words people are looking up the most at any given moment. Imagine my surprise and heartache when I found out it was because he is gay. I can imagine that Soulforce Soulfarce is simply gay happy about it. What a shame this is the the work that he has done in the past. His great songs.

Sickening. Disturbing.

Christian Singer Ray Boltz Comes Out.

Gospel singer Ray Boltz – who has sold about 4.5 million LPs, cassettes and CDs – has come out of the closet publicly in an interview with Washington Blade.

The formerly married singer, who has four children, came out to his family and friends several years ago. While sitting around the kitchen table at his daughter’s house in December 2004 – the same day as the Tsunami in the Indian Ocean – Boltz’s son, Philip, asked him what was wrong.

“I thought, ‘Well, I can just do what I always do and hide the truth or I can take a risk and be honest,’” Boltz says. “That day, with the tsunami, has become very symbolic in our family.”

Nobody was sure, at the time, what the ramifications of the revelation would be, least of all Ray.

“It’s hard to say I came out because I didn’t have all the answers. I just admitted what I was struggling with and what I was feeling. It’s hard to go, ‘This is the point where I accepted my sexuality and who I was,’ but I came out to them and shared with them what I’d been going through.”

Continuing to pretend, Boltz says, was no longer an option.

“I’d denied it ever since I was a kid. I became a Christian, I thought that was the way to deal with this and I prayed hard and tried for 30-some years and then at the end, I was just going, ‘I’m still gay. I know I am.’ And I just got to the place where I couldn’t take it anymore … when I was going through all this darkness, I thought, ‘Just end this.’”

His family’s reaction took time.

“I don’t want to downplay it like it was just, ‘Oh, well that’s OK.’ It was a very tough time for them too, but the bottom line was they loved me and they still love me … it’s been an amazing journey of acceptance on their part … I was offered support and love from each member of my family, including my wife.”

Exodus Launches Initiative to Help Women Affected by Lesbianism

Exodus Launches Initiative to Help Women Affected by Lesbianism.

This is along the same lines as the last post.

The global organization that promotes the message of “freedom from homosexuality through the power of Jesus Christ” launched a new ministry this week to specifically cater to women struggling with unwanted same-sex attraction.

Wed, Aug. 27, 2008 Posted: 05:02 PM EDT

The global organization that promotes the message of “freedom from homosexuality through the power of Jesus Christ” launched a new ministry this week to specifically cater to women struggling with unwanted same-sex attraction.

Exodus International has seen more men than women seek help, causing concern among ministry leaders who feel women weren’t getting the specific attention they needed. Approximately 60 percent of the people who have sought help at Exodus have been men and the rest, women.

Studies in recent years have shown that nationally, the prevalence of homosexuality is smaller among women than men.

“A concern that we’ve had for many years is that because more men come to us for help, women have had a tendency to get lost in the leftovers of our ministry,” Alan Chambers, president of Exodus International, told The Christian Post. “We are launching this ministry because we want to offer intentional, specific help that meets the needs of women affected by unwanted homosexuality.”

According to Chambers, women have a difficult time talking about their struggles or making themselves vulnerable when receiving help for their unwanted same-sex attractions. Although they tend to have a “much easier time” leaving the physical side of homosexuality than men do and often have more long-term success, women struggle with emotional entanglements, negative body images, ravages of sexual abuse, gender identity issues and feelings of inferiority and intimidation towards other women – all of which require a more specialized approach, Chambers said.

Chambers explained that Exodus has wanted to launch a women’s ministry for years as more women have requested specific help, but the international organization did not have the resources or personnel to meet the need.

Now with both, Exodus has launched an initiative that is being led by Yvette Schneider, a former policy analyst for Family Research Council and a former lesbian. Schneider, who has been out of the lesbian lifestyle since 1992 after giving her life to Jesus Christ, has worked with several ministries to help women affected by lesbianism.

“The Christian church must be a place that powerfully conveys compassionate truth to hurting women,” said Schneider in a statement. “My goal is to help more women find real hope and help as they journey towards wholeness in their femininity in Christ and to equip others to do the same.”

In her new role, Schneider plans to communicate biblical, compassionate truth to women, provide practical help and resources for women dealing with gender confusion, speak at women’s conferences and help other organizations better meet the needs of women affected by lesbianism.

While Exodus has been helping women for over 32 years, the newly launched women’s ministry will serve in ways that better meet gender-specific needs.

California Legislature Approves Gay Day in Public Schools

California Legislature Approves ‘Gay Day’ in Public Schools

Democrats send AB 2567 to Governor Schwarzenegger

Contact: Agency Contact, 877-405-4005, Campaign for Children and Families

SACRAMENTO, Aug. 7 /Christian Newswire/ — Campaign for Children and Families (CCF), a leading California organization protecting parents’ rights and children’s innocence, condemns the passage of AB 2567, which will instruct all California public schools to “conduct suitable commemorative exercises” in support of the anti-religious, sexual-anarchy agenda of the late San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk.

Today, the California Assembly passed AB 2567 on a 43 to 26 vote, Democrats for, Republicans silently against. Earlier this week, AB 2567 passed the California State Senate on a 22-13 vote, Democrats for, Republicans against. AB 2567 now goes to Governor Schwarzenegger, whose position is unknown.

“If signed into law, AB 2567 will mean an official day commemorating homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality in California government schools,” said CCF President Randy Thomasson. “This will harm children as young kindergarten. Every May 22, AB 2567 will positively portray to children homosexual experimentation, homosexual ‘marriages,’ sex-change operations, and anything else that’s ‘in the closet.’ Governor Schwarzenegger should say no to this very inappropriate bill, which has nothing to do with academic excellence.”

AB 2567 comes on the heels of last year’s school sexual indoctrination laws. When fully implemented, SB 777 and AB 394 will teach children in California government schools to support homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality via instructional materials, programs and activities, and school “safety” guidelines. In addition, the California State School Board this year implemented SB 71, requiring public schools that provide sex education to promote unmarried sexual activity with no restraints other than mutual consent.

“AB 2567 will further motivate parents to remove their children from the immoral public school system,” said Thomasson. “We’re encouraging parents to visit RescueYourChild.org to learn how to save their children while they still can. With public schools becoming sexual indoctrination centers, homeschooling and church schools are no longer parental options, they’re parental imperatives.”

Lambeth diary: Behold the phantom bishop

Category: Religious NewsPolycarp @ 4:01 pm

I have watched in dismay over the past few years as the Anglican Communion is essentially torn apart by the Americans. It is a shame that this abomination has been not only allowed across the pond here, but is promoted.

Lambeth diary: Behold the phantom bishop | World news | guardian.co.uk.

Lambeth diary: Behold the phantom bishop

Coming out in the Anglican Communion is no picnic, as the bishop of New Hampshire the Right Rev Gene Robinson will testify. Happily his fellow prelates managed it with aplomb the other day when they avoided veteran gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell and his 40-foot banner urging them to “Stop Crucifying Queers”.

To add to the ever-growing categories of bishops the Guardian can now add an eighth: phantom bishops. Conference organisers say there is a bishop who did not register but decided to come anyway.

He is now experiencing the pleasures of Lambeth – under the name of another bishop who did register but did not come. The criteria for getting on the list of attendees – or bishops who are here and what everyone to know they are here – are puzzling. The archbishop of Canterbury and master of ceremonies Rowan Williams is not on the list, however Cormac Cardinal Murphy O’Connor, the most senior figure in the Catholic church of England and Wales is.

It has been asked of Williams, time and again, how he arrived at the decision not to invite the excluded yet omnipresent Robinson and his answers have been typically Rowanesque: “The problem we faced within the Anglican communion [was] that bishops gathering for Lambeth represent not only their diocese but their participation in the fellowship of worldwide Anglican Christians. Where there are bishops whose participation in that worldwide fellowship is for one reason or another questionable, that is the reason for questioning their participation.”

“He puts the cant into Canterbury,” grumbles one Anglican.

No need to feel sorry for the Gafconites who decided to stay away from Lambeth, as some have created their own entertainment. The smooth and intriguing archbishop of Sydney, Peter Jensen, has been inviting people over for pyjama parties at his place. In what has been dubbed PJs at PJ’s, the last six months have seen Sydney Anglican rectors invited to sleepovers at his residence before a multi-million dollar launch of an ambitious evangelical drive to convert Sydney to the joys of featherdown pillows. Actually, it’s to connect with the “unchurched” of the Australian city

News that you can use 7/25

Category: Abortion, Atheism, Islam, Rick Warren, Weekly NewsPolycarp @ 9:06 am

This link came from a comment to a previous article concerning Todd Bentley. You may remember that a group of ‘apostles’ ‘anointed’ Todd some time ago. Here is a member speaking out. Here are a couple of good links in debunking Todd. Thanks to Sheepweepy for this post, where we get to see some of Todd’s baptismal formulas. And yes, we have a Todd video…did you know that Todd moves God? But at least he is packing up the tent (once again), however, Iyov gives us a stark reminder what what tattoos have been used for. (Remember, Todd said that ‘Jesus’ gave them to him)

Speaking of Iyov, he is helping to spearhead a campaign against oppression in cyberspace.

Here is an interesting piece on Europe’s fall is Isam. (although if the women remained covered…) And while Europe falls along with the rest of the West, Christians in China endure hardships valuing their Faith above all other things.

Speaking of falling, my view of apostasy is one of absolute. If you rebel against God, against the blood of the covenant in such as way as to deny the salvation that you received, you are apostate and there is no hope for you. I say this by way of introduction to this post here.

Look, I am in favor of reaching someone in their culture, but is this the way to do it? (Indianized Bible) And of course, here is the newest Bible in English, a Green bible. No, seriously. Recycled paper and all.

Is reading the bible really religious extremism? You know what they say, only in Uzbekistan. Here, we simply have anti-religious extremism, especially in dealing with the gay agenda. Speaking of the gay agenda, guess who Rick Warren is partnering with to bring the presidential forum to Saddleback? But, we do have some good news in the legal battles.

The New York Times takes a moment to examine the role of doubt in religion. And the Lutherans take time to examine the role of neo-pentecostalism in Africa while assuring Zimbabwean Lutherans of solidarity through the political and economic crisis that is hitting that country.

An Oxford professor tells us something that we should already know… Of course, maybe it is because no one is reading the bible. Maybe they should read the recently released online version of the Codex Sinaiticus. And Dunelm Road takes to some interesting Patristic resources.

I have longed to start blogging on the Wisdom (of Solomon) so I found this piece interesting. I do not agree with him in his argument, instead believing that Paul used Wisdom (as did Luke, and others) as a silent witness in their writings.

And to further support that the Trinity doctrine is in constant development, Peter Kirk posts that the Lambeth conference for the Anglican Communion has dropped a certain contested phrase. Is Canterbury drawing closer to Istanbul?

I have worked with many fine Catholics in the past few years and have a respect for them as individuals. I not agree with their doctrine, but I am glad to read that anti-catholicism on on the way out. Of course, this could be the ecumenical feeling that is draw religions together, but skipping eschatology for a minute, in the course of my work, when we needed people to man the fronts lines in defense of rights for this on or that one, we could count on the Catholics as a whole. On the other hand, ecumenicalism does frighten us old (or young) fundamentalists.

Dr. West brings a blog about a blog detailing blogs about Calvary and the tomb. Dr. West then rants about the eternal bible.

And for the news from Europe, Mr. Davis, brings us disturbing news about abortion being forced into Northern Ireland.

These Presbyterians have a problem and most likely will look for a new home. I do know of a place that they can go. We would even taken Richard Dawkins, the meanie-headed atheist.

Andrea brings us the top 10 false beliefs of Mormonism, but I disagree with her concerning the doctrine of Trinity being taught in the bible, but over all a good reminder that Mormonism is nothing close to traditional or biblical Christianity.

Scott offers up candidates for worse preacher ever

Wiccan-kabob…ah the religion of nature, more like worshiping the gods below.

Did you know that Noah blogged? Well, if he went through this flood, maybe he had the time.

And for our last video of the week…
