Miracles or Spiritual Deception?

Category: False Prophets, ProphecyRory Roybal @ 11:47 pm

According to Bible prophecy, false Messiahs, false prophets and false apostles arise as this age draws to a close, and later work great miracles, signs and wonders to deceive multitudes worldwide. Spiritual deception will dramatically increase, eventually so convincing that even the elect will find it difficult to resist.

Even today, faith healers and spiritual healers draw multitudes with promises of miracle healings and deliverance. We hear more and more about miracles and spiritual gifts, but how can we discern among real miracles of God, miracles, signs and wonders of the occult, and fake miracles via deceptions of men?

Surely we or our loved ones couldn’t be deceived? Or could we? See the article here.

Is it Time? The River Euphrates is Drying Up

Category: ProphecyPolycarp @ 3:56 pm

The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East. (Rev. 16.12)

The New York Times article might be restricted, but try the links anyway.

Excerpts from the Times story: “Throughout the marshes, the reed gatherers, standing on land they once floated over, cry out to visitors in a passing boat. ‘Maaku mai!’ they shout, holding up their rusty sickles. ‘There is no water!’ The Euphrates is drying up. Strangled by the water policies of Iraq’s neighbors, Turkey and Syria; a two-year drought; and years of misuse by Iraq and its farmers, the river is significantly smaller than it was just a few years ago. Some officials worry that it could soon be half of what it is now. The shrinking of the Euphrates, a river so crucial to the birth of civilization that the Book of Revelation prophesied its drying up as a sign of the end times, has decimated farms along its banks, has left fishermen impoverished and has depleted riverside towns as farmers flee to the cities looking for work.” [More photos of the drying-up Euphrates from the NYT.]

So, what do you think?

Is there a Great World Wide Revival Coming?

Category: ProphecyPolycarp @ 7:59 pm

This post is in response to a friendly discussion with Peter Lopez from Beauty of the Bible, another excellent biblical blog. We are hoping to simply engage the subject and remain friendly while doing so. I believe that it will be easy, as this is not a truly doctrinal worry, and frankly, for my children’s sake, I hope that he is right.

Let us lay the foundation for the negative:

You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. (2Ti 3:1 NLT)

Cyprian, commenting on this passage in his first Treatise, states,

Whatever things were predicted are fulfilled; and as the end of the world is approaching, they have come for the probation as well of the men as of the times.

Cyprian was echoing the Tradition which he learned from Tertullian, who in the first part of his work, On Modesty, writes,

But as the conquering power of things evil is on the increase—which is the characteristic of the last times —things good are now not allowed either to be born, so corrupted are the seminal principles;

The early Church writers are here shown only to show that the early Tradition is that the world will only get worse.

Again, from the Scriptures,

Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons (1Ti 4:1 NLT)

Athanasius, writing in his Disposition of Arius connects 1st Timothy 4.1 with Luke 21.8

He replied, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and saying, ‘The time has come!’ But don’t believe them. (Luk 21:8 NLT)

Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed– the one who brings destruction. (2Th 2:3 NLT)

In verse 9, we are told that this person will come with great signs and wonders.

Scripture tells us that in the last days, humanity will grow worse, turning upon themselves, and allowing people to rise to lead people in rebellion against God, claiming the name of Christ. In answering the negative, I believe that Scripture is clear that this world will spin into an open rebellion against God.

Some will refer to the prophecy in Joel 2:

“And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.” (Joel 2:28 NKJV)

Yet, Peter, standing on the day of Pentecost applies this portion of prophecy not to the End Time Revival, but to the days which he lived:

“But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: `And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. (Act 2:16-17 NKJ)

Again, from Peter,

That you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, 3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” (2Pe 3:2-4 NKJ)

While Peter does not apply anything from the  OT to the NT here, he does concur with the Pauline speech that in the last days, people will rise up against Christ instead of participate in a great world wide revival.

Granted, there is evidence that during the End, a remnant of the Jews may turn to Christ (not the regathering of Israel, but the remnant according to Grace) and that I will allow.

David Wilkerson becomes a Prophet

Category: Religious NewsPolycarp @ 7:13 pm

“Founder of World Challenge, Inc., David Wilkerson is perhaps best known for his early days of ministry to young drug addicts and gang members in New York City, as published in the best-selling book The Cross and the Switchblade.”

Well, David has a prophecy. Not knowing David, I find it interesting and relevant to on going discussions.

I am compelled by the Holy Spirit to send out an urgent message to all on our mailing list, and to friends and to bishops we have met all over the world.

James W. Goll has 'words' for you – Throw them away

Category: Joel's ArmyPolycarp @ 8:45 am
Got to love this – he complains about the lack of funds, but then says that this will be a season of wise investments. I will not respond to all, but please feel free to post your own comments at the bottom. As as always, please free to email him.

James W. GollGreetings in the great name of Jesus! The Holy Spirit has been speaking to me about some Declarations for 2009 and Beyond, so I have composed a portion of what He has been saying to me.

We are still in a financial strain at EN as are many other ministries. In 2008, we experienced at least a 25 percent drop in income. This has left us in the most difficult squeeze we have faced in all my 34 years of full-time vocational ministry. Unfortunately, we had to lay off some of our staff at the end of January. We are seeking the Lord for His guidance as we navigate these turbulent times. So please pray with us for the Lord’s provision to be released. If you feel that He is guiding you to undergird this ministry in the New Year of 2009, we appreciate your support.

Remember, Together in Jesus, We Make a Great Team!

No, seriously, the South will Rise again – It's God's will, says soothsayer

Category: Religion and Politics, Religious NewsPolycarp @ 6:10 pm

I am sorry, but at some point you have to bury the saber. I know some of the people on the below site, and they are as serious about this as Kim Clement is about his hair. I thought about posting it under humor, but it is just too stupid to do so. Seriously, though, these people are serious:

The Prophetic Countdown The Fall of the United States! 7 January 2009 By Thomas Guinn Confederate Legion founder@confederatelegion.com http://www.confederatelegion.com

In presenting The Prophetic Countdown, it should be made known, that few if any participants in the modern Confederate Cause are anti-United States, we are simply pro-Confederacy. In the context of this article I am the deliveryman, passing along important prophetic utterances! Nevertheless the Confederate position was best stated by the late President Jefferson Davis, wherein he stated on 29 April 1861; “We feel that our cause is just and holy; we protest solemnly in the face of mankind that we desire peace at any sacrifice save that of honor and independence; we ask no conquest, no aggrandizement, no concession of any kind from the States with which we were lately confederated; all we ask is to be let alone; that those who never held power over us shall not now attempt our subjugation by arms.” We maintain that it is our unalienable right to decide for ourselves, what manner of society, government and nation shall be ours. Our forefathers who established the Confederate States of America, made such a choice, therefore the use of arms to overthrow and subjugate our nation, changes nothing but its status, to that of occupation. This having been said, you are herein presented with what can only be described as amazing, the prophecies of the coming fall of the United States of America.

The U.S.-Israeli Collision Course Is Near – Radical Insites Fear

Category: Messianic Judaism, Religion and PoliticsPolycarp @ 9:52 am

Below is a news article that highlights that foolishness of basing your Foreign Policy on the fictional (and highly erroneous) Left Behind series of books. Granted, the idea that Israel must be protected against everything – against all common sense – even sacrificing the security of the United States.

John Crowder, Sarah Palin and theocracy

Category: Joel's Army, Religious NewsPolycarp @ 2:30 pm

John Crowder, of the New Mystics fame, has a ‘prophecy’ concerning this election, although he seems hesitant about telling you what will happen.

via The New Mystics – John Crowder @ inJesus.com

Ask yourself, is that really the person that you wanting giving you advice in any area of your life?

Here are some selected quotes,

The point I am trying to make is this: as a son or daughter of God, you have much more political clout than one little vote in the poll booth. With God living inside you, you have the prophetic authority to decree God’s choice candidate into office.

Establishing Dominion

Prophets are called to declare and establish governmental authority in the earth through the spoken word. But not just speaking — you must also dwell in the Glory. Such was the case with Samuel, Jeremiah, Isaiah and many others. When Samuel was looking at the long line of potential candidates for office at Jesse’s house, he did not feel any Glory on any of Jesse’s sons who were present. However, when he saw ruddy little David coming in from the field, his heart leapt; and he spoke David’s reign of authority into existence, years before it would ever take place (1 Sam. 16).

Again, I am not in such hubris as to take credit for Palin’s rise to success; however, I can also not deny the strange odds that God would have me interceding for such a random person, in such a random place, for such a far-fetched thing as our nation’s highest governing offices. At that time, I don’t even know that I fully understood the power of prophetic decree.

It’s All in a Name

After hearing the news of Palin’s nomination, I was reminded of Bob Jones’ word. And I felt instantly that the Lord wanted me to study out the meaning of her name: Sarah Louise Heath Palin. First of all, I noticed the name Sarah and its corresponding Hebrew roots mean “ruling over multitudes, female ruler, queen, chief, governor” (See Strong’s Concordance No. 8283, 8282, 8269 and 8323). And Louise means “fame and war, renowned fighter or famous in battle.” I feel that this could be significant regarding the current military crises our nation faces around the world at this time. It may also speak of her future legacy to this nation.

Considering that Palin is from the wilds of Alaska, I was interested to learn that her middle/maiden name Heath means “uncultivated land.” This will be a prophetic riddle to remember. In many ways, I see Palin as uncultivated land. By this I do not mean unrefined, or incapable. Rather, I see raw potential, untapped resources, fresh energy and moldability. Also, when righteous leaders are in power, the land prospers. I believe that having virtuous leadership is imperative for our current economic situation as well. Interestingly, the Lord commanded the Israelites to leave their land uncultivated in the Sabbath year, the time of rest. People did not work, but the Lord miraculously provided abundance to last throughout the entire year. Psalm 65:11-13 (AMP) says the following:

You crown the year with Your bounty and goodness, and the tracks of Your [chariot wheels] drip with fatness. The [luxuriant] pastures in the uncultivated country drip [with moisture], and the hills gird themselves with joy. The meadows are clothed with flocks, the valleys also are covered with grain; they shout for joy and sing together.

If there is ever a time our nation needed the hand of God’s favor and prosperity, we surely need it now. Finally, the last name Palin has a number of meanings, depending on the source language. In Welsh, for instance it is a derivative of a word meaning “to serve at table” (i.e. servant leadership). And it can be traced to English towns with the root word Pal, meaning Paul, and the suffix –ingas, meaning “follower of.” In other words, it could mean “follower of Paul.” But moreover, there is an actual Greek word palin which means “renewal” (see Strong’s 3825).

As supernatural as this election cycle seems to be, still I cannot be certain as to whom the Lord will put into office. There are many spiritual factors at play. As with the nation of Israel, the Lord must often establish leaders according to the hearts of the people – He wanted a theocracy, but the people wanted a king. And yet His grace still abounds. My point in writing this article is bolster the truth into you — to know as believers, we have a significant role to play in establishing dominion in the earth through the Glory of God and the prayer of faith. Pray for His righteous mandates to be released this fall. We ask for wisdom and favor to be upon whoever takes office come November. Let us pray for a renewed season of spiritual prosperity, restoration and unity be granted to our country, and that America will again be a light on the hill to the nations of the earth.

Can you catch his drift here? That he believes that if you vote for Sarah, God might just give you a theocracy?

False Prophets promote Sarah Palin – Why are you?

Category: Joel's Army, Patricia King, Religious News, Revelation, Todd BentleyPolycarp @ 7:21 pm

I am a skeptic, naturally, of spiritual feelings, dreams, and nearly everything dealing with the pneuma. I take it quite literally the command of ‘try the spirits’. I try them, run them through the ringer you might say, beating them to a bloody pulp and if they stand then I follow, but as I watched this video, the Spirit moved within me and I was sickened, frightened, and a sense of hastening moved upon me. How much time do we have left?

The video below is of a false prophet Julie Meyer who is an associate of Extreme Prophetic’s Patricia King and is tied to the Bob Jones Ministry along with The Elijah List which is a part of Lou Engle’s Joel’s Army. And guess who they are supporting as ‘God’s Ticket’? Friends, Sarah Palin is not on God’s ‘ticket’. There is no such thing. I don’t like beating a dead horse, but friends, there is a reason why Christ told His people to come out of Babylon… and He was not meaning the Catholic Church or the Denominational Churches.

Do you believe what she said? Do you really buy into it? If you don’t, tell me, why do you think the adversary is using his broad army of false prophets to usher in this ticket?

Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”  (John 18:36 NKJV)

From here (who goes the hat tip for this post)

Like the boy who cried wolf, every four years Christians pull out this passage to ensure that the faithful understand that “This Election Is the Most Critical One Our Nation Has Ever Faced.™”

The passage in question:

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. —2 Chronicles 7:14

I am tempted here to cover the first clause, but I am not; that is not the topic of this post. We have to remember that when God talks about His people, He is not talking about political boundaries – at least not under the New Covenant (And remember, we are under the New Covenant, so those promises to Israel are overwhelmingly given to the Church). Instead, He speaks about the spiritual boundaries – the Church. The United States is NOT the Church. Christ DID NOT die to make this country free or to create the Republican Party. Christ is not a Republican. Please don’t be fooled into supporting what is quickly showing itself as the ticket of Revelation 13.

Does this worry anyone esle?

From the Bible that is Rarely Read: Sirach 39.1-11

Category: RSV, SirachPolycarp @ 2:48 pm

*I am not trying to design these as a commentary, but as a point for discussion and perhaps as a bit of a devotional. They are a spiritual and mental exercise for me. If I find an error in Sirach that I cannot rectify, then it must be considered mortal and merely a good read. Until then, if then, I will continue to read and learn from Sirach. Please feel free to point me in the right direction.

In studying the book of Sirach, I found nothing to disagree with the Christian faith as handed down by the Apostles. Instead, it often times edifies that Faith. In this passage, we find what might be considered a prophecy of the Apostle Paul as well as  a picture the ideal disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As a fundamentalist (although that is arguable) I approach the Bible as the Word of God, divinely inspired, and without imperfection in the Original. I believe that the spirit of God moved the holy men of old to write His words and His thoughts and because this, they are scared and must never be removed. In Sirach, although not recognized as inspired by Protestants and others, is a book of immense value and spiritual insight. It has provided many of the early Christian writers with a foundation to stand on, even in opposition to the Jews who dismissed it. Perhaps, it is because of passages like this, which point, seemingly to Christianity, even in part.

As a fundamentalist, I am not shy about my belief that biblical prophecy is a direct revelation from Jesus Christ, nor am I shy in saying that we find these prophecies, most of the time, after they happen. With reason, I am ready to hesitantly say that I believe that the Lord foresaw the Apostle Paul and through Inspiration, we read Sirach’s words,
