New Comment Policy

Author: Joel

Some of you have a lifetime waiver – comment when, where and how you like. If it gets sent to spam, let me know and I will rescue it. If it ends up in moderation, it is not my fault, but I will attempt to correct the problem. I like your comments and feel that I can grow by them. I feel that many of you who have commented for a while now have taught me things that I needed to learn.

Some of you will remain on a lifetime comment moderation. Why? Because you want to share you heretical stances with the world and want to use my blog as your platform. If you have something to say, get your own blog. They are free.

I do not want ‘new truths’ or someone which has ‘graced me with his presence.’ If you think God has made you the single last messenger to mankind, then join the rest since Montanus. I don’t need you.

If you are going to disagree with me, at your own peril, then please feel free to do so, but do not attempt to insult my doctrine. If you are an atheist, that’s fine, tell me and talk with me, but do not insist on calling my Lord any vulgarites. The same thing is to be said of any other religious system. If you want me to respect your particular view point – respect does not mean agreement – than you should first give that respect.

Some of you will never be allowed to post here. Why? Because your comments do not meet my level of consideration. These comments are those that usually promote such a wrong sided view of the topic that I find it detrimental to allow them on this blog. If you have something to say, get your own blog. They are free.

I was hopeful that my rather liberal ideas of freedom of speech could be transposed to this blog, but alas, I realize that too many people are still stuck in the deep, dark recesses of their mind and would destroy the things of God to place themselves on a higher level.

To my faithful readers, and all those on my blogroll, you have a lifetime pass, but recently, I have had to deal with several commentators that have abuse any sense of decency and leniency that I wish to have had.

Haha! I love that! That has to be one of the best things someone has called me!

I quit moderating several weeks ago and like it better. It’s easier to monitor the few trolls you may get v. having to read/approve all the pertinent replies and catching SPAM is a “wash,” You can always block comments if someone harasses you. Overall, an open comment policy seems preferable, at least so far.

Paul, I have had an open comment policy for a year – since I started, but it just got to be where I had all the unwelcomed ones that I could want. I have no problem with someone stating their opinion or voicing opposition, but when they do so with some of the silliest things, then at some point, well, I have to cut it off. I will not moderate all, but I will from time to time delete comments from those on the moderated list.

I’m also considering not allowing certain people to leave comments because it often becomes an argument based on the commenter trying to bait people.

Wb, after a recent run with some Messianics, I decided to go ahead with the decision. I have no problem with disagreements, but when you start calling our Lord something between Zeus and a ham sandwich idol, I take offense.

    Messianic Christians? That’s surprising.

But of course it would be offensive.

Polycarp, I too have had to institute a comment policy. I don’t know why people feel the need to come on a blog to bait and say things that will obviously upsetting to the author and the usual readers. Can’t we all just live and let live?

I just found your blog and I plan to do some reading here.

Thanks, Catherine. I have seen you cross AI a time or two.

I do not mind disagreement, but when they come on just to start a fight, well, I really don’t need that. Thanks for stopping by.
