Muslim scholar calls for the end to Middle East Christian exodus
Mohammad Sammak, a Sunni Muslim who is secretary general of Lebanon’s Christian-Muslim Committee for Dialogue, told a synod of bishops the declining number of Christians in the region was a concern for all Muslims.
“The emigration of Christians is an impoverishment of the Arabic identity, of its culture and authenticity,” said Sammak, who is an adviser to Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri. He added that maintaining the Christian presence in the Middle East was a “common Islamic duty.”

Glenn Beck’s and Jim West’s Prophetic Messages

There used to be a blog somewhere about analyzing politicians and their use of Scripture in their speeches, which is something that is profitable, I believe. Dana Milbank has done the same thing (and written a book about it) with Glenn Beck and the use of Mormon Sacred Tradition. (Note, this is not a critique of that Tradition)
In one of his first appearances on Fox News, Glenn Beck sent a coded message to the nation’s six million Mormons — or at least those Mormons who believe in what the Latter-day Saints call “the White Horse Prophecy.”
“We are at the place where the Constitution hangs in the balance,” Beck told Bill O’Reilly on November 14, 2008, just after President Obama’s election. “I feel the Constitution is hanging in the balance right now, hanging by a thread unless the good Americans wake up.”
For Milbank, this is an allusion to a well-known Mormon prophecy,
“When the Constitution of the United States hangs, as it were, upon a single thread, they will have to call for the ‘Mormon’ Elders to save it from utter destruction; and they will step forth and do it,” Brigham Young, Smith’s successor as head of the church, wrote in 1855.
He goes on to quote Sen. Orrin Hatch‘s statement (who is a Mormon Senator) about the current President,
“I heard Barack Obama talk about the Constitution and I thought, we are at the point or we are very near the point where our Constitution is hanging by a thread.”

Like most ‘prophecies’ it can be self-made, heightened, and brought to fulfillment by those who have a desire to see it done so.
Jim West, bluntly, writes,
Did you get that? If you welcome false teachers into your home you become partners in their evil. And make no mistake, Glenn Beck is a heretic.
Friends, if you continue to support Glenn Beck in anyway, except to witness to him the Gospel of Jesus Christ, you are a partaker of his evil deeds. Period.

Eddie Long says “I’m under attack”

Is your pastor accountable?

Growing up in churches in which the pastor was never to be questioned, I really didn’t know what accountability was. As a matter of fact, I was taught that committees, elders, etc… and anything who could temper the pastor’s authority was heresy. What people like Eddie Long and other pastors who preside over their congregations teach us is that absolute power corrupts absolutely…
Regardless, pastors and experts say the Long case demonstrates how vulnerable the country’s independent churches still are to being damaged by the misbehavior — sexual, financial or otherwise — of leaders whose considerable influence often comes with temptation and little accountability.
“The more powerful a Christian leader becomes, the fewer restraints that other people can put on them,” said the Rev. H.B. London Jr., vice president of ministry outreach for Focus on the Family. “Some of these men and women become so powerful that no one can tell them ‘no.’”

Maybe Eddie Long needs to go to his own school

I know…. dead horse, but there are a very few types of people that I can say I might just hate. Child Molesters are one of them. While I am trying not to pass judgment, yet, Long’s history of questionable activity is just too much not to raise an eyebrow too when charges like this are made.
“It became a place where the bishop could learn the intimate details about these young men,” said attorney B.J. Bernstein, who filed the civil lawsuits against Long.
Long and his attorney have denied all the accusations, with Long remaining largely silent. On Sunday, he will speak publicly to his congregation at church for the first time since the lawsuits were filed.
The TV pastor bills the academy as a “rite of passage program for males,” and it trains about 100 students during a four-month session for $500 a person. Long and his board of advisers, which includes NFL star Ray Lewis, created a daunting regimen.
Long, himself a stocky and muscular man, demands the students run 2 miles in less than 15 minutes and bench press and squat their weight. They even have to write a report on the documentary “Super Size Me,” which chronicles a man who eats only fast food during every meal for a month.
Long – whose church’s finances have been investigated by Congress – wants the students to keep a sharp fiscal mind, too. They have to understand social security, calculate interest rates on investments and work a job for at least three months. (here)
