I cannot say that I’ve seen the things that the anonymous blogger has, but those of us who have suffered spiritual abuse at the hands of those that we respected, our faith stands challenged and changed, either for the worse or the better. Rick points us to this blogger, who was on staff at Todd’s first church, and watched at it was taken and twisted and abused, and in turn, the blogger himself was abused.
This is not merely a charismatic/pentecostal problem, but one which occurs in various sects.

How do you overcome spiritual abuse? Is it God’s fault? Why is it that the first thing we blame for others is God. (I note that Adam did it as well…)

When I heard my former pastor and friend, a man I respected and honored, tell me that his two grandsons were molested and that he suspected that other boys had been so by one known individual…and then to tell me that he refused to do anything about it, well, frankly, it still hits me and makes me mad. I cannot really talk about it openly without the hurt and anger taking over. I thought a few times of giving up my faith, but in the end, the actions of a few do not invalidate my faith in any way. Instead, in many ways, it is stronger.

I hope that this unknown soul can regain his faith and use his experiences to help others.

One man doesn’t represent God and to see Todd, or Spence or Rose, as representative of Christianity is wrong. It is a difficult journey, for anyone in this situation, and I will pray for him. I hope you do too.
