On Joining the SBL, Search Terms and Odds and Ends

On Joining the SBL, Search Terms and Odds and Ends

I’ve joined the SBL this evening, finally. I will not be able to attend much, if any, of the SBL this year for various reasons. (Namely, I have a meeting scheduled beyond my control on Friday, and my daughter as a doctor’s appointment to look at a growth on her neck on Tuesday). I am still going to the blogger’s dinner, of course. I mean, when John posted something about books, and I realized that with SBL membership, you get 40% off the SBL titles, well…

The Coolness which is Mystery Google

The Coolness which is Mystery Google

Sure, it’s tough getting indexed, they change the pagerank rules, the SEO rules, and the pingback rules, but they have time for this?

Mystery Google is a bit spooky, a bit social, and all in all a strange search engine full of surprises.

What does it do? Type in a search term on Mystery Google, and you get back “what the people before you searched for.”

For example, we tried typing in “Huff Post” and got back the search results for a different user’s query for “thank you.”

It’s a nifty way to know what other people are exploring on the web, and a cool spin of the online roulette.

We also learned a thing or two that we wouldn’t have gone looking for otherwise (did you know “barak llahu fik” means thank you in Moroccan Arabic? We didn’t). (ht)

Was Jesus Charismatic: This Week’s Search Engine Terms

Was Jesus Charismatic: This Week’s Search Engine Terms

I’ve been googled and binged, and maybe even yahooied. Sometimes, I get some pretty funny terms, others, people search my real name, etc… So, I thought I might share what brought people here this week, according to my WordPress Stats:

Reconciliation among the Search Engines

Reconciliation among the Search Engines

From here:

Bing is Microsoft’s search engine. It’s essentially a re-branding of their “live” search. A website was created for the purpose of comparing search results with Google. I’ve found it handy to be able to kill two bird with one stone search two search engines with one entry.

By the way, Abberation is a new blog, but could use your support.

Funny thing about search terms…

Funny thing about search terms…

Last year, I posted a story about an assault made on a woman by several in the minister. Narcotics were used in the process. Well, recently, I have been getting hit using a phrase found in the title of that story. I will not post it here, but I’ll give you a hint – opposite of battery, narcotics.

Well, I kept seeing this words pop up so I googled them to see where I ranked. Safe to say that these words were not being used to lead people to this site – but to a rather disgusting site. (It’s a good thing that Google doesn’t show images, just a brief summary).

So, for all those looking for the subjugation of flesh, and total depravity, but not the healing that you need, I am glad that so many are stopping by here first. All these people looking for p-o-r-n and they land here.

How cool is that!
